3 day canoe tour on the Lahn

Tour description

Kayaking or canoeing can be done on this route from the 1st of May till the 20th of September. This route cannot be used for the rest of the year because it is partly located in a bird sanctuary. Kanu Lahn-Dill is one of the certified, environmentally and climate friendly companies that are allowed to launch boats in the bird sanctuary.

This 3-day tour takes you from the small town of Roth over a weir on a quiet and natural river route to the lake and camping site of Wißmar. In Wißmar you can stay at the campsite Wissmarer See.

The next day the Lahn leads you past the university town of Gießen over three boat lanes and two locks. You paddle along an idyllic landscape to the historic town of Wetzlar. In Wetzlar you can stay at the campsite or in a hotel in the old town of Wetzlar.

The Campsite Wetzlar offers accomodation not only for canoeists with their own tents but also plots for campers and caravans, there are also log cabins, as well as a circus car. The campsite offers its guests a breakfast and barbecue service. Freshly baked buns, delicious cold cuts of sausage & cheese as well as hot coffee & tea that can be obtained on the day of your order. Please refer to the campsite staff. Lunch packages for the next day are also bookable.

On the last day the Lahn leads you through the historic town of Wetzlar and via a boat lane, a roller conveyor and three locks into the small town of Leun. Look at the historic buildings of the city of Wetzlar, such as the cathedral, the old Lahn Bridge and the castle ruins of Kalsmunt from the water. This tour finally ends in Leun at the youth campsite.

Free service: We can book an accommodation on the campsite in Wissmar or Wetzlar. Just write a note in the order form. Please calculate with approx. €10 per person. However, the settlement has to be done with the campsite owner directly.

Canoe ticket: €3.60 per person each trip.

You are environmentally friendly and good on foot? Then take the train! The station Niederwalgern (Bahnhofstrasse 1, 35096 Weimar (Lahn) – Niederwalgern) is located about 30 minutes walk from the starting point Roth. The station Leun/Braunfels (Burgsolmser Straße, 35638 Leun-Lahn railway station) is about 20 minutes walk from the final destination Leun Lahnwiese. Buy your regular ticket for public transport or order your cheap Canoe ticket.

Start is at the Kanustation of Kanu Lahn-Dill in Wetzlar. At the end of the day you can use the ticket to get back to your car in Wetzlar. During the tour you can park your car about 300 meters away from the canoeing station in a free public car park. Furthermore, we offer you to park your car for €2.20 a day at the campsite Wetzlar. The bus trips are operated by a local bus company on behalf of Kanu Lahn-Dill. It is Not to a public bus. You can order the ticket and the canoe ticket during the booking of the boats. Book your ticket early in advance, so you can start the day relaxed.
