In 2015 they decided to rebuild the whitewater channel. Now you can expect a much more athletic and faster course with partly fast, partly playful sections. Especially in the upper section you can find nice surf waves that invite you to play. Downstream there are more sporty-waves and wholes waiting for the more solid paddlers. The track is perfect for training and optimizing your eddy technique. This can be quite challenging and exciting, a good sporting challenge!
Furthermore, you can train a dynamic and react paddling on the course. Good basics for white water rivers in the grade III level.
The route has become much faster and more demanding after the reconstruction. Small eddys, technical lines and some holes makes it hard for pure WW beginners on this track. Therefore you should have a solid basic knowledge of WW. You schould be able to do the Basic- /Bow stroke and the low brace and paddle into smaller, more athletic eddys. The fast track requires a certain basic condition.
We first familiarise ourselves with the character of the course and refreshes the theoretical basics around the topics paddle technique and flow theory. The course focuses on:
- Deepen/improving the WW basics in theory and practice
- Paddling in and out of sporty eddys
- Paddling/playing in surf waves
- Tactics in Whitewater (e.g. finding a good "line" by your own, learning how to paddle efficiently)
- Basics of safety and mountaining
If you don`t feel safe now, we recommend the advanced courses in Lippstadt
For those of you who are not sure and/or want to slowly approach to the level of the Holibu course or want to get to know both of the courses, it is possible to combine a day in the WW-park Lippstadt (LI) with a day in the WW-park Hohenlimburg (HL).
On the first day of the course, we usually meet on the site of the WW Park Hohenlimburg and spend both days on the ww channel.
Please note for courses in Hohenlimburg:
A paddling fee is charged for the use of the ww-channel and the sanitary facilities. (depending on age, duration of paddling, DKV membership). The fee is not included in the price of this course.
It is possible to stay at the service centre directly at the ww-channel.
Campsite Hohensyburg: After about 20 minutes by car you reach the beautiful campsite in Hohensyburg.
Please consider to have enough food and drinks for the day and if necessary for a breakfast on the second day of the course. Alternatively, the city centre of Hohenlimburg can be reached within walking distance from the ww-channel.
