The waters of Mecklenburg Switzerland, such as the Malchin Lake, the Kummerower Lake and the Peene, are the ideal area for excursions by canoe or rowing boat (with or without engine). The Malchin lake with its average water depth of 2 meters and the shallow beaches on the eastern shore is particularly suitable for paddlers. If you are travelling by canoe on the Peene, you will find that the river bears the name "Amazonas of the North" perfectly rightly. Except from the Dahmer canal between the Malchin Lake and the town of Malchin, as well as in the Peenekanal to the Kummerower Lake, the Peene flows through many natural winds into the Baltic Sea. The many wetlands along the Peene allow you to observe many of the 156 registered breeding bird species.
